Setting up Buddy

If you don't find the information you need on one of these pages, you can SEARCH in the bar above or RETURN to the HELP CENTRE here.

Learn how to set up your Dote Buddy Monitor correctly.

We suggest you set your Buddy monitor up at home where you have a private wifi connection with a strong signal. Your device won't work on a public wifi network.

However, before that PLEASE FULLY CHARGE your monitor.

Step 1: Connect to power & charge
Release your Buddy monitor from the dock by pushing the black button on the top and sliding the monitor up.

Connect one of the cables provided to the USB-C socket on the underside of the dock, run the cable through the channel (push in until secure) and plug it into the mains.

Slide your Buddy back onto the dock to connect it to power and charge.

We know you want to get started, but we strongly advise FULLY CHARGING your monitor before continuing setup and before use. This may take several hours.

General instructions for use:
The black button on the top is a quick-release mechanism to connect or disconnect your Buddy monitor from any of the docks. Push the button on the top of Buddy to release or simply slide it into the dock until it clicks. The dock connects the cables for charging at home or in the car.

When your Buddy monitor is clicked into a dock, it will turn it on. If the dock has power, your Buddy monitor will use mains power and charge the integrated battery.

If you wish to power your Buddy off when not in use, release it from the dock and press the little red button on the side for 8 seconds.

Step 2: Install your docks

While you wait for your Buddy to charge, let’s set up your home (wall/shelf) dock, car headrest dock, stroller dock and floor stand (if you have one). Go here for installation instructions.

Read our safety guidance on positioning your monitor here.
