Setting up docks

Home dock (wall/shelf) setup

Please read through all of the following instructions and our guide to safe positioning, before starting the installation.

You have a couple of options for installing your Buddy’s wall/shelf dock.

1. SHELF: Place it on a flat surface such as a shelf and adjust as needed to ensure it can see your baby. Be careful to run the cables as per the wall dock installation instructions below, so they are safely out of reach of your child.

2. WALL: Mount it on a wall above your baby’s crib, adjusting the position and angle as required so the monitor can easily view all of your baby’s sleep space. Instructions below.

Installing the wall mount:

YOU WILL NEED
- Dote Buddy wall dock
- Screws and wall plugs
- Cable trunking and connectors
- Tools (not provided): measuring tape, pencil and small screwdriver/electric screwdriver

Step 1: Decide where to position your Buddy wall dock.

It needs to be at least 90cm / 3 ft up from the top of your baby’s mattress to ensure no loose cables will be within reach of your child. The plug socket should also be at least 90cm / 3ft away from the edge of the crib. Also, ensure the monitor won’t be too close to a heat source such as a radiator, as it will affect the accuracy of the room temperature sensor.

Step 2: Measure and mark the position

Measure from the centre of your baby’s mattress and make a mark on the wall at least 90cm / 3ft up from the mattress.

Place the dock on the wall with the dock arm to the right as shown, and mark all 4 holes.

Step 3: Install the charging cable

Ensure the cable is installed in the dock (see here for how to do that) and is exiting the dock at the bottom when it's placed on the wall. Check that when in place, your Dote Buddy monitor can be angled as you require.

Step 4: Drill and attach

Drill the 4 holes, use wall plugs if necessary and attach the dock to the wall using the 4 screws provided.

Step 5: Install the cable trunking

a) First place a straight connector over the cable and insert it into the bottom of the dock.
b) Open one of the cable trunking pieces (it only opens on one side), thread the cable through and click it closed all the way along.

c) Push the trunking piece onto the connector.
d) Remove the adhesive strip and firmly stick the cable trunking to the wall.
e) Repeat steps (a) – (d), continue adding a connector, then another piece of cable trunking until you reach the same height as the socket.

f) Use the L-shaped connector to turn the cable towards the socket and continue installing the cable trunking to keep the cable tidy until you are within around 15-25 cm of the socket. g) Fold up any excess cable and secure it in place with the hook and loop strip, then plug it in.

h) Slide your Buddy monitor into the dock, and once you have your video feed, you can angle it so you can see your baby’s sleep space.

Car Headrest Dock

Read through all of the following instructions before starting the installation.

The car headrest dock is designed to fit any car headrest, whether it’s attached to the back seat facing forwards (towards your rear-facing baby in their car seat) or on the front seat facing backwards (towards your forward-facing child).

The stretchy strap has holes in it so you can fix the dock in place on either orientation using the black fixings provided (a long one on one side connects to a short one on the other side).

Step 1: Decide where the monitor needs to be in the car and where you can safely run the charging cable to a USB port for in-car charging; many cars have a USB port in the boot/trunk. We suggest running the cable up from the dock rather than down, ensuring it is completely out of reach of your child.

Step 2: Attach the dock to the strap in the desired orientation, using the black screw fixings. You may need 1 or 2 screwdrivers to do this.

Step 3: When ready, remove the plastic strips to reveal the tacky areas on the back of the strap.

Step 4: Feed the strap either through the gap under the headrest or wrap it around horizontally, if that’s not possible. Stretch the strap tight and connect it to itself using the hook and loop area.

Step 5: Slide your Buddy into the dock and it will charge while you’re driving. Once you have the video feed set up, you can angle your Buddy monitor to see your baby in the car.

Stroller dock

The universal stroller dock is designed to fit the front bar of any stroller. We suggest placing it on the right side of the bar as you look towards the seat, so you can angle the Buddy in towards your baby.

Take out the stroller dock and place it on the stroller bar with the straps on the seat side. Feed the hook and loop straps under the stroller bar and up behind the thin plastic bars, then pull down firmly and fold back on themselves. Attach them securely underneath.
